Valentine's Day: The Glee Comedy Club, Cardiff

[apologies for the bad quality images, the glee club lighting is awful for taking photos]

Me and my boyfriend have been together for 5 years now and we usually do the stereotypical Valentine's Day activities - Cinema, Restaurant, Home-cooked meal. This year, for our 6th Valentine's Day we wanted to change it up and try something new.

We are living together in Cardiff so started looking at what's on in and around the area on the 14th. Something that we thought about was The Glee Comedy Club, Cardiff.

We had never been before but both of us love comedy, and we both also love eating out. The Glee Club offered food and entertainment under one roof so we thought it would be a perfect way to spend Valentine's evening; and it was!

When we arrived the queue was out the door, but I heard one man say he'd never seen it so busy so I assumed from this that it is usually straight up the stairs and into the venue. People who were wanting to buy their tickets at the box office when they arrived were turned away as it was sold out. This was no surprise to us though as it was 14th Feb, and we were quite happy to wait in line.

When we arrived at the front of the queue, they took our name and a kind waiter showed us to our seats and explained how it worked in terms of us getting our food. We chose to pre-ordered our food and drink when we purchased our tickets as we thought it would be easier. We did have the option of ordering at the bar, but I'm glad we pre-ordered as the bar was packed! We were given small tickets to give to the waiter when they brought over our food which was a great idea so they knew that the right table had received it.

Once we were sitting down, we had a short wait and then the food arrived. We both chose to be quite naughty with our food options - it was of course a special occasion! I went for the pepperoni pizza, my boyfriend chose the monster fish finger sandwich and we ordered a side of onion rings between us.
We also ordered a 2 litre jug of Blue Lagoon [VK Blue, Corky's Blueberry and Lemonade] which arrived at the table first, shortly followed by the food. I would highly recommend eating here if you decide to go as the food was delicious!

Once the show started, we were laughing for the rest of the night! When we booked, the acts were - Andy Robinson, Phil Nichol, Mark Nelson and a 'very special guest'. The Host, Andy Robinson, did an amazing job keeping us all laughing in between the acts. The first and third acts, Phil and Mark, were both hilarious, but when the second act (the very special guest) was introduced, Kevin Bridges, the roof was raised! He was definitely the highlight of the evening with continuous laughter throughout his set.

Overall, it was an extremely enjoyable Valentine's Day for the both of us and we agreed we will definitely be going again. I highly recommend it :)
