Time to Unwind

Every girl needs her down time, especially after a long or busy day. Here are a few tips for the perfect way to chill out and completely unwind.

Being in my final year of university, I know how it feels to be constantly stressed and feeling like the work load is never ending! Also, the stress of worrying what I'll be doing when I've finally graduated haunts me on a daily basis at the moment.
So after a hectic day I love to carry out my little routine to wind down, clear my mind and just have time to myself.

The first thing I like to do is light my candles. I absolutely love scented candles, and over time I've found that
many of them smell lovely in the shop but as soon as they're lit, they don't let off much scent. However, a while ago I was introduced to Yankee candles, and I'm glad I tried them! I know they can be quite pricey for the size, but they smell gorgeous on the shop shelf and continue to smell gorgeous once they are home and lit!

My favourite scent at the moment is
Fresh Cut Roses. It has a subtle floral aroma and is lovely when you want a soft scent in the background. As you can see in the image, I also have the Etched Hearts small shade which I think just adds to the
cosy feel when lit in my room.

The next thing I do to help me wind down, is put on some music. Now, usually when getting ready to go out, or just when doing uni work, my music preference would be dance, house or chart music, but when relaxing I prefer softer music.
My absolute guilty pleasure is Take That. I adore them! I have done for years now. I guess I could say it's just a pleasure, as I have no guilt :)
I love Take That's new album, III. It is perfect for relaxing with. I just pop this on, put the album on repeat and I could sit there and listen for ages!
I'd suggest finding something like this that suits you when you want to unwind. Something maybe a bit different to what you'd listen to on a daily basis, and opposite to the music that would get you in the mood for a night out.

And finally, once my candles lit and my music is on, I like to put my feet up and find something easy to do.
I'm currently reading Miranda Hart: Is It Just Me? and I must say, it is hilarious.
I've been a huge fan of Miranda, and recently went to see her live - she was amazing!
Her book is filled with light humour and a feel good sense to it which makes it perfect to read when I'm just chilling out and just want to escape from the real world.
This book is highly recommended by me, but if this isn't your thing, find a book or activity that you think would help you forget about all the stresses and worries in your life and just escape for a bit.

These are my ideal ways to chill out and unwind after busy days, or just a way of having time to myself.
