Growing up, I was part of a loving and big family, but unfortunately over the past 8 years our family has become a great deal smaller. Being such a family-orientated person, nothing in the world felt better than being told it is about to get a little bit bigger again! My niece or nephew will be the first of the next generation and I cannot wait. I'm also glad that this baby will be able to meet 2 of it's great grandmother's, which I had the absolute privilege of doing myself, and 1 of it's great grandfather's - something I was never able to do.
On Thursday (15th May) my sister sent me this amazing picture:
The reason for the title is I'm going to start a baby book and title it ''Adventures with Auntie Hazel''. Now, I know my sister will be doing one, and other members of the family, but I want to do my own, to show the baby all the fun and wonderful things we've done together. I want that baby to grow up knowing how much love it is given everyday from my family (which will be a LOT) but also how much love it'll get, and already has, from me.
Me and my sister are best friends. I consider myself very lucky to have an amazing bond with her, and people are often saying how surprised they are that we get on so well. But if I'm honest, I'm surprised when they comment on our close relationship, because I've never known differently. Yes, we bicker and argue, but when you're that close to someone, you're going to. It's always something to laugh about later on though.
I'm incredibly excited for my sister and will be there by her side the whole way through, including at the birth. Yes - that's right. The father works very long hours and lives away, therefore if he cannot make it to the birth, and I am back from university, then I will be holding my sister's hand! I can see it now - they'll be blood, sweat, tears and a broken hand for me. Haha!
I'm so proud my sister, as she's been through a lot, but has pulled herself up and is a much stronger person now. I know she's going to be a fantastic mum, and prove everyone who thinks otherwise wrong (if there is anyone)!
Being an auntie is going to feel incredible and I've already said I'll be round to help out whenever, wherever and at whatever time, as that's what my sister needs - constant support.
Even writing this post now I'm bursting with excitement, and I've already bought unisex things for this baba! <3 July will be the month in which we find out the sex, then I can shop til I drop (or simply run out of money!). Auntie Hazel - better get used to that I guess! :D
Much love <3
Congrats! Being an Aunt is so much fun! The best part is you get to give them back when you are tired! And all the things your sibling put you through as a child? Payback time! I bough my nephew a drum set first thing!
ReplyDeleteHave fun being an Auntie!

Thank you Dawn, he's almost 5 months old already! Time goes by so fast.
ReplyDeleteOoh that's a great idea, a drum kit. Haha definitely putting that on my 'to buy' list for when he's older. Along with anything that sings.
